As we are all getting ready for Thanksgiving, I need to remind everyone that our PCOA holiday (meaning the December holiday!) party will be the Monday immediately following Thanksgiving! A little early this year but somehow we'll manage! Anyone who has attended one of our meetings can testify that we never lack for good food. That being said, I would like to invite any ostomate, their family and/or caregiver, or those contemplating diversion surgery to attend our holiday buffet complete with entertainment.
Dr. Jen-Nan Yuh is coming to our November meeting. He is a colorectal surgeon at Robinson Memorial Hospital and known to most of the regular members of the PCOA. Bring any questions or concerns you may have, after all he is the "guru" of ostomies! Let's put him to the test! I hope we have a great turn out! See you all on November 3rd!
We will be starting out the year on a positive note - "Wellness" with Mindy Gusz. It takes our body, mind and spirit working together to help us feel our best. Mark your calendars to join us!!
Just a reminder to everyone - our first meeting will be the second Monday in September because of Labor Day but always worth waiting for. It's the kick-off of our new year and everyone brings a dish to share - always lots of good food! And we will have three months of catching up to do, problems to solve and news to share. Mark your calendars - September 8th at 6:00 p.m. This is an open invitation to all ostomates, their caregivers and those who may be facing ostomy surgery in the near future.
What a day! Learning how to create this website and going to lead a blog?!?! What am I thinking but here we go! Going to need to refine and define as we go but hopefully we'll get a functioning website soon!!
I'm a nine-year ileostomate, and the new president of PCOA in 2014. Will put my comments if you put yours!
